This is a Revell Germany 1/32 Scale assembly and painting required plastic model kit of the Heinkel He162 "Volksjager" ("People's Fighter"), a single-seat, single-engine jet fighter aircraft of the German Luftwaffe in World War II. Model kit features: Kit features engraved panel lines, well appointed cockpit, optional position landing gear in detailed wheel wells, fully rendered BMW engine displayable in optionally open dorsal engine pod nacelle, port cannon bay interior with optional position access panel and 2-piece optional position canopy. Decals and painting guide for 2 German aircraft: WNr 120027, 'White 1' of I./JG1, pilot Lt Rudolf Schmitt at Leck, May 1945 and WNr 310016, 'White 5' of I./JG1, pilot Hptm Heinz Künnecke at Leck, May 1945 - includes stencil data. 93 parts, Skill Level 4. Also called the "Salamander" and the "Spatz", the He162 was the last attempt by Germany to turn the tides of air war against the Allies in Europe. The He162 featured a small but sleek streamlined fuselage. A BMW 003 Sturm axial-flow turbojet was mounted in a pod nacelle on top of the fuselage and directly aft of the cockpit, and the 162 was fitted with retractable tricycle landing gear. The He162 was intended by the Luftwaffe to be built in large numbers and flown by relatively inexperienced pilots, but neither scenario worked out as planned. Very few He162s were ever completed.
